Franck Bohbot

Franck Bohbot is an artist, photographer, and director. Renowned for his ability to transform the ordinary into the extraordinary, Bohbot’s work captures the poetic interplay between architecture, streetscapes, and human emotion with a cinematic flair.

A documentarian with an eye for the theatrical, Bohbot discovered photography through cinema. Although he turned his focus fully to photography in 2008, his work remains deeply influenced by the formal and aesthetic elements of the cinematographic form. Each frame straddles the line between reality and fantasy, documentation and storytelling, evoking a unique narrative in every image.

His work has appeared in The New York Times, Vogue, Vanity Fair, Harper’s Bazaar, National Geographic, and many others. Known for his mastery of color, light, and symmetry, he has collaborated with iconic brands and institutions such as Paul Smith, Nike, Knoll, Iris van Herpen, the Louvre Museum, and Valentino. His works are housed in public and private collections around the world.

Notable projects include his monographs Light On New York City and Back to the Arcade. His series "Chinatown," praised by Wired for its noir-inspired aesthetic, and "The Last Show," a poignant documentation of Southern California theaters during lockdown, reflect his unique ability to merge storytelling with visual artistry. Renowned for his exceptional skills in both portraiture and architectural photography, Bohbot's work inhabits a space between reality and fantasy. Whether capturing the grandeur of iconic interiors, the symmetry of urban landscapes, or the soul of his subjects, his compositions evoke emotion and curiosity.
